Historic Landmarks Board Update

Post Date:01/05/2018 12:30 p.m.
Historic Landmarks Board. At its meeting on December 20, the Historic Landmarks Board reviewed and provided comments on the City's 2018-2020 Strategic Plan Update, which focuses on the final two years of a six-year strategic plan. Among many other objectives, the plan establishes goals and milestones relating to historic preservation in Sausalito. At the December 20 meeting, the Historic Landmarks Board also reviewed a draft of an update to amend the City's historic preservation ordinance, which establishes the regulations for historic buildings and properties, with the goal of making the regulations and processes more streamlined and easier to understand.

The next meeting of the Historic Landmarks Board will be held on January 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room. At the meeting, the board will discuss the long-term outlook on Sausalito's historic preservation policies as part of the General Plan Update. The City's General Plan consultant, the M-Group, will lead a discussion in a workshop setting to get input from board members and any interested members of the public.

The Historic Landmarks Board is currently seeking two new board members to fill vacant seats. The five-person board is responsible for reviewing applications for exterior renovation of historic or noteworthy structures, historic sites, and landmarks located throughout Sausalito. The Historic Landmarks Board meets once per month to review prospective projects. Please contact Senior Planner Calvin Chan at cchan@sausalito.gov for additional information, or fill out an application on the City website.
