Code Enforcement in Sausalito

Post Date:02/02/2018 2:15 p.m.
Have your neighbors accumulated an unsightly heap of trash in their front yard? Is a business in town blocking pedestrian traffic with its portable sign? Are your neighbors causing parking problems with their Airbnb rental unit? These are just a few examples of why we have code enforcement in the City of Sausalito. Code enforcement ensures compliance with the Sausalito Municipal Code for land use, zoning, building, housing, and environmental health.

The Community Development Department uses code enforcement to accomplish community goals, such as maintaining the quality of neighborhoods, avoiding nuisances, and protecting the environment. Code enforcement is not intended to be selective or discriminatory against any one individual, group, area, or business.

Alleged code violations are investigated by the City's code enforcement officer as they are reported or discovered. The City's code enforcement procedures use a combination of judicial and administrative remedies to gain compliance with municipal code regulations. If voluntary compliance is achieved, we've succeeded.

If you would like the code enforcement officer to investigate a possible violation of the municipal code, please submit a Code Complaint Form. While the nature of a code enforcement complaint is subject to disclosure under the Public Records Act, the contact information of the complainant is confidential. Should a court action be filed concerning the complaint, all information may become part of the public record.

Any questions about code enforcement in Sausalito may be directed to Code Enforcement Officer Eric Cogbill at code_enforcement@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4111.
