Help Guide the Future of Sausalito's Neighborhoods

Post Date:10/06/2017 4:00 p.m.
The General Plan Update currently underway in Sausalito is a community-wide planning effort. The update involves a review of existing conditions, the development of a refined vision for the City, and the establishment of goals and guiding principles towards reaching this vision of Sausalito. Community involvement is essential throughout the process.

Next week there will be a variety of ways to get involved in the planning process, highlighted by an October 14 community workshop on the unique character of Sausalito's neighborhoods.

Marinship Walking Tour
Thursday, October 12 at 2:00 p.m.
Tour leaves from Schoonmaker Beach, 99 Liberty Ship Way
This two-hour walking tour is designed to give community members an opportunity to learn about the Marinship with an on-the-ground look at buildings, land uses, and conditions in the area. Participants will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and aspirations about the future of the Marinship, as well as hear from local business and property owners about the history of the area. Participants are encouraged to park at the Bay Model and walk to Schoonmaker Beach.

Marinship Pop-Up Workshop
Thursday, October 12 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.
US Post Office, 150 Harbor Drive
Following the Marinship Walking Tour (see above), we will be on-site in the Marinship with maps and materials to talk with residents and employees in the area and learn their thoughts about conditions, issues, needs, and opportunities in the Marinship. All community members are welcome to come by our temporary booth to learn about the Marinship and share thoughts about the future of the area.

Community Workshop: Sausalito's Unique Neighborhoods
Saturday, October 14 from 10:00 a.m. to noon
Bay Model Multipurpose Room, 2100 Bridgeway
This workshop will provide an opportunity for the Sausalito community to gather and discuss issues in land use, neighborhood character, growth management, and other emerging issues for Sausalito. We'll have a brief overview of the General Plan process to date and will break out into smaller groups for conversation on key topics.

Waterfront Walking Tour
Saturday, October 14 at 1:00 p.m.
Tour leaves from Yee Tock Chee Park at 639 Bridgeway
This two-hour walking tour is designed to give community members an opportunity to learn about the Sausalito waterfront (outside of the Marinship) with an on-the-ground look at buildings, land uses, and conditions in the area. Participants will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and aspirations about the future of the waterfront.

All community members are welcome and encouraged to attend any of the above events. If you are planning to attend one or more of the events, please RSVP to info@sausalitogeneralplan.org.
