Vanishing Coral (2018)

Film Screening and Discussion
Vanishing Coral (2018)
Friday, February 8
7:00 p.m. inside the Library

Coral reef populations worldwide are declining at a rapid pace. One of the most diverse and complex ecosystems on the planet, the coral reefs provide livelihoods, food, and important shoreline protection. Though they make up less than 1 percent of the oceans, reefs are home to 25 percent of fish and other marine life. This special program will present the new documentary Vanishing Coral (2018, 27 minutes), followed by a live discussion via video conference with marine ecologist Dr. Phil Dustan, who is featured in the film. Vanishing Coral was directed and produced by Stephen Olsson of Sausalito-based CEM Productions. Stephen will also be on hand to answer questions after the screening. The film was edited by Patsy Northcutt, with executive producers Juan Devis & Kim Spencer for KCETLink.
