This sculpture on the waterfront in Sausalito was originally fabricated in concrete in 1957 by local artist Al Sybrian. By the mid-1960s, the concrete was starting to wear down, so it was replaced by a bronze cast of the original. Sybrian's sea lion is the most photographed piece of public art in Sausalito.
