Post Date:01/19/2018 2:30 PM

The Sausalito Sustainability Commission met for its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, January 11. The commission began the meeting by welcoming the new City Council liaison, Susan Cleveland-Knowles. Kristen Wolslegel was elected as the new chairperson, Robin Parvin as the new vice chairperson, and Ayaka Emoto Estrada as secretary. Departing commissioners Rebecca Woodbury (now serving as an alternate) and Millard Arterberry were thanked for their service to the Sustainability Commission. The annual e-waste event was also discussed, as was a letter of support to the Marin County Board of Supervisors for a resolution calling on the protection of the ocean and coast from offshore drilling and fracking.

The Commission spent the majority of the January 11 meeting discussing the logistics of the Sea Level in Sausalito event which will take place on February 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Army Corps of Engineers Bay Model at 2100 Bridgeway. The event will include guest speakers Andrew Gunther and William Travis. There will be a discussion of the Marin County Sea Level Rise Vulnerability Assessment, a visual preference survey, and an opportunity for attendees to play the award-winning Game of Floods. The next regular meeting of the Sustainability Commission will be held on February 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room.
