Council Approves Plan to Seek Bids for Southview Park Project

Post Date:07/20/2018 4:00 PM

At its meeting on Tuesday, July 17, the Sausalito City Council authorized City staff to seek bids on the Southview Park Improvement Project. Plans, specifications, and a construction cost estimate for the project have been prepared by CSW/Stuber-Stroeh Engineering Group.

Southview Park is located on a steep hillside in the Old Town neighborhood of Sausalito. Components of the improvement project include fixing retaining walls, grading and resurfacing the tennis and basketball courts, replacing the children's play structure, and improving paths, lawns, and seating areas.

The City expects to open bids in winter or early spring of 2019 to get the best responses from the contractor marketplace. If acceptable bids are received, City staff will return to the City Council for an authorization to execute a contract with the successful bidder. Barring complications, construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2019.

The projected cost of improvements to Southview Park is $1,612,817. Funding for the project will come from a variety of sources, including the 2016 Certificates of Participation, Measure O, and funds expected from California Proposition 68

Any questions regarding the Southview Park Improvement Project may be directed to Maintenance Division Manager Loren Umbertis of the Department of Public Works at lumbertis@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4113.
