Participate in the Citizen's Police Academy

Post Date:09/07/2018 1:00 PM

The Sausalito Police Department is currently accepting applications for the 21st Citizen's Police Academy, which runs for ten consecutive Wednesday evenings beginning on October 3, 2018. Class sessions start at 7:00 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m. Participants in the academy must live or work in Sausalito.

The Citizen's Police Academy is designed to provide an inside look at how our police department operates. Classes focus on topics such as ethics, use of force, drug recognition, emergency preparedness, community policing, crime prevention, and DUI investigation.

All participants will be given the opportunity to go on two ride-alongs with police officers, one with the night shift and one with the day shift. This is a great way to get to know the police officers in your community on a more personal level.

Anyone who is interested in attending this year's Citizen's Police Academy should contact Sergeant Jason McConnehey at (415) 289-4181 or jmcconnehey@sausalito.gov. Applications are available online and in the front lobby of the police station at 29 Caledonia Street.
