Library Announces Friday Evening Program Schedule

The Sausalito Public Library will present more than thirty adult programs during the fall of 2018, including Thursday evening lectures, mobile device workshops, Metropolitan Opera previews, and our popular Coloring and Doodling Party for Adults. Our biggest events take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evenings inside the library, where we have a giant presentation screen and room for a hundred chairs. This fall, there are five Friday evening programs.

Friday, September 28 
In Dover Until It Was Over: Swimming the English Channel (twice!) 
Sausalito resident Melissa Blaustein will tell the dramatic story of her two attempts to swim the English Channel during the summer of 2018, the second getting her to a French beach in a time of 15 hours and 51 minutes. 

Friday, October 5 
California's Coast: Living on the Living Edge    
Environmental writer and marine wildlife photographer Kim Steinhardt will take us on a photographic journey into the California coast's past, present, and probable future.  

Friday, October 12 
Celebration & War: The Sausalito Houseboat Community in the 1970s  
Photographer Bruce Forrester will present the beautiful photos he took of the Sausalito houseboat community during the freewheeling 1970s.

Friday, October 26 
Sterling Hayden  
Join us for a celebration of actor, author, and sailor Sterling Hayden (1916-1986), featuring film clips, readings, and reminiscences from some of the local people who knew him.

Friday, November 9 
Ghosts of the Golden Gate
National Park Service volunteer Ted Barone will show amazing "then and now" photos that trace the history of the Golden Gate and Marin Headlands.
