Council Requests More Outreach Before Mobile Showers Decision

Post Date:09/28/2018 2:45 PM

At its meeting on September 25, the Sausalito City Council requested additional outreach and the evaluation of multiple sites before making a decision on a six-month pilot program to offer mobile shower service in Sausalito. The issue will be reconsidered at the Council meeting on Tuesday, November 13.

At the direction of the Council, outreach in advance of the November 13 meeting is to include a community workshop and communication with neighbors and businesses surrounding potential mobile shower sites.

The mobile shower service would be provided by Marin Mobile Care, an operation run by the nonprofit organization Downtown Streets Team. Marin Mobile Care currently offers mobile showers on a regular schedule in Novato and San Rafael. The staff recommendation considered by the Council on September 25 called for mobile showers to be available two mornings per week in Marinship Park.

Any questions or comments about the proposed mobile shower service may be directed to Lt. Bill Fraass at bfraass@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4170. When available, the date of the community workshop will be published in the Sausalito Currents e-newsletter and on the City website.
