New Exercise Class Is Free for Most Seniors

Post Date:10/12/2018 12:00 PM

Sausalito Parks and Recreation is offering a new group-exercise class for older adults. The class has now been scheduled for 12:35 to 1:35 p.m. on Tuesdays to accommodate those who use Call a Ride for Sausalito Seniors. Cardio and strength is a low-impact, highly-effective 50-minute workout focused on improving the functional fitness of older adults. The class is offered through the SilverSneakers program from Tivity Health. Each class combines dance-based movement sequences (for toning large muscle groups and stimulating brain function) with drills for core stability and balance.

For a list of health plans offering SilverSneakers, please go to silversneakers.com. The program is free for most people. A nominal drop-in fee is payable for those on other health care plans. For more information about the classes offered through the SilverSneakers program, contact Recreation Supervisor Linda Finch at (415) 289-4152 or lfinch@sausalito.gov.
