Post Date:10/05/2018 1:00 PM

On Thursday, October 18, the Sausalito Police Department will hold a waterfront community meeting from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room of Fire Station 1 at 333 Johnson Street. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information on the following topics:
  • The Richardson Bay trash collection event scheduled for Friday, November 16. The purpose of the event is to work with members of the anchor-out community to remove debris from vessels before the winter storm season.
  • The Sausalito Police Department's plan to mark and impound unoccupied vessels moored or anchored in Sausalito waters in excess of 72 hours (Sausalito Municipal Code 16.04.100B).
Removing unoccupied vessels from Sausalito waters is one of four priorities in the Sausalito Police Department's Waterfront Management Plan. The four priorities are:
  • Remove marine debris vessels from Sausalito waters
  • Remove unoccupied vessels from Sausalito waters
  • Issue citations to unregistered vessels and remove vessels from Sausalito waters when registration is expired by more than one year
  • Address the issue of individuals living on vessels who are a danger to themselves or others and work with other agencies to assist in getting these individuals and their vessels off the water
Any questions about the waterfront community meeting or the Waterfront Management Plan may be directed to Lieutenant Bill Fraass at bfraass@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4170.
