Council Delays Discussion of Regulations on Short-Term Rentals

Post Date:11/02/2018 4:00 PM

Referring to a large volume of recent correspondence from residents and "several legal challenges," Sausalito Mayor Joan Cox made a motion at the beginning of the City Council meeting on October 30 to delay the planned discussion of regulations on short-term rentals. Mayor Cox noted that the additional time would be "to allow [City] staff an opportunity to carefully evaluate and assess the legal issues... and so that the members of the City Council can weigh in and provide opinions with full information." The motion was unanimously approved by the Council.

Links to the correspondence received by the City Council, also known as "late mail," may be found under item 6B on the agenda for the October 30 meeting. More information about the regulations and the proposed pilot program that had been scheduled for discussion at the meeting may be found in this article from last week's edition of Sausalito Currents and in the staff report for the meeting.

Look for announcements in Sausalito Currents and on the City website when a new date has been set for City Council consideration of short-term rental regulations. Any questions, additional correspondence, or requests to receive email notice of upcoming meetings related to short-term rentals may be directed to Community Development Director Lilly Whalen at lwhalen@sausalito.gov.
