Planning Commission Update

The role of the Planning Commission is to review applications for design review and land use entitlements, as set forth in planning and zoning laws of the City and the state, and perform other such duties as specified in the Sausalito Municipal Code.

Previous meeting. The following actions were taken at the meeting of the Planning Commission on December 5:
  • Approved a design review permit, subject to heightened design review, to remodel and construct a two-story western addition, an addition, and a covered deck for the existing single-family residence at 416 Napa Street, along with a nonconformity permit to rebuild a single-car garage over the existing parking area and an encroachment agreement for garage, driveway, utilities, walls, landscaping, and stairs located in the public right-of-way
  • Made a recommendation to the City Council on zoning ordinance amendments related to accessory dwelling units and junior accessory dwelling units to add Sausalito Municipal Code section 10.44.085 and to amend Sausalito Municipal Code section 10.44.080, section 10.88.040, and table 10.22-1

Upcoming meeting. There will be a meeting of the Planning Commission in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19. The following items are on the agenda:
  • Review the 2019 calendar for Planning Commission meeting dates
  • Consider a request for a conditional use permit to allow the hosting of limited special events at Studio 333, an art gallery located at 333 Caledonia Street, and a sign permit for business identification signage (note that the applicant is requesting that this item be continued)
  • Conduct a fact-finding meeting and an advisory decision for restoration of views from 308 Third Street (continued from October 3, 2018)
  • Consider a recommendation to the City Council on a zoning ordinance amendment to add Sausalito Municipal Code Section 10.40.140 establishing regulations for inclusionary housing

The department's public counter in City Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
