Semi-Trailer Crash and Fire at Highway 101
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, a semi-trailer belonging to Goodwill Industries crashed through a guard rail and burst into flames at northbound Highway 101 between the Robin Williams Tunnel and the exit to Spencer Avenue.
The driver of the truck escaped from the vehicle without injury. The truck fire was extinguished by firefighters from the Southern Marin Fire Protection District. Wet conditions prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding vegetation.
The area where the crash occurred is undeveloped land above Sausalito Boulevard. There are no homes in the immediate area.
Northbound 101 was entirely closed in the immediate aftermath of the accident. The right lanes of the roadway remained closed for much of the day, but reopened in time for the evening commute.
