City Recognizes Volunteers at Annual Event

Post Date:04/12/2019 3:35 PM

The City of Sausalito thanked its volunteers at the annual Volunteer Recognition Event at the Spinnaker restaurant on Tuesday, April 9. More than 125 volunteers attended the evening festivities, which began with a social hour and hors d'oeuvres, followed by brief speeches from Mayor Joe Burns and representatives from the City's seven departments. The event concluded with dessert, coffee, and more time for socializing.

Invitations to the event went out to 306 area residents who served on one or more of the service organizations that supported the City in 2018. These organizations range from City boards and commissions, to local nonprofits like Sausalito Sister Cities and Sausalito Beautiful, to volunteer groups that work in the library and at City events.

Three longtime volunteers who passed away in recent months were also recognized at the event: Lou Wilkinson and Dorothy Gibson of the police department's Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) and Steefenie Wicks of the Sausalito Historical Society.

Interested in volunteering? There are volunteer opportunities in Sausalito that are suitable to a broad range of interests and abilities. If you would like to become a volunteer and join us at next year's recognition party, please send an email message to or visit the Volunteer Opportunities page on the City website.
