Historic Preservation Commission Update

The role of the Historic Preservation Commission is to identify, preserve, and protect the historical assets of the City of Sausalito and to educate and engage the public on the importance of preservation.

Previous meeting. At its meeting on Thursday, March 14, the Historic Preservation Commission reviewed and approved the following:
  • A certificate of appropriateness for a project to construct a new detached, two-car garage at 76 Cazneau Avenue
  • A certificate of appropriateness for a rehabilitation project at 52 Princess Street
Upcoming Meeting. There will be a meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission in the Conference Room of City Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25. At the meeting, the commission will watch a pre-recorded presentation from the California Preservation Foundation regarding "cultural landscapes" and discuss the topic as it relates to Sausalito. A cultural landscape is "a geographic area, including both cultural and natural resources and the wildlife or domestic animals therein, associated with a historic event, activity, or person or exhibiting other cultural or aesthetic values" (National Park Service Preservation Brief 36). All interested persons are welcome to attend and participate in the discussion.
