Landscaping Team Battles Weeds on Bridgeway Medians

Post Date:05/10/2019 11:15 AM

The City of Sausalito's landscaping team has been busy making improvements to the approximately 50,000 square feet of medians that divide Bridgeway at the north end of Sausalito. Over the past three weeks, City landscapers Jason Finch and Oscar Lucario – along with their supervisor Kent Basso and workers from GSI Landscaping – have put in almost 80 hours of work on the medians. The work has included removing truckloads of weeds, spreading over 40 yards of mulch and wood chips, and making repairs to irrigation systems.

Most of Sausalito's Bridgeway medians were completely replanted between 2015 and 2018 as part of a collaboration between the City and Sausalito Beautiful, a nonprofit dedicated to improving Sausalito's public parks and green spaces. The new plants are thriving thanks to above-average rainfall this year, but have been joined by an onslaught of weeds like red valerian.

Work on the medians will continue in the coming weeks. As you pass by work areas, please slow down and watch out for the crew. Any questions about Sausalito's Bridgeway medians may be directed to Parks and Recreation Director Mike Langford at mlangford@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4126.
