Parks and Recreation Commission Update

The seven-member Parks and Recreation Commission advises the City Council on the activities of the Parks and Recreation Department, on planning and policy matters related to City of Sausalito parks and recreation areas, and on the management of public art in Sausalito.

Previous meeting. The Parks and Recreation Commission met on Wednesday, April 3. Topics on the agenda included endorsing Sausalito Beautiful's goal of having public landscapes identified as basic infrastructure in the General Plan, providing input on the tree plan for MLK Park, a presentation on a Peace Pole at a park in Sausalito, and updates on park projects.

Upcoming meeting. The Parks and Recreation Commission will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Edgewater Room on the lower level of City Hall. The agenda includes the consideration of approval for three High Impact Special Event Permits, updates on the renovation projects at the MLK Campus and Dunphy Park, review and approval of the MLK Field Schematic Tree Plan, and a presentation on revisions to the 4th of July Parade.

The staff liaison for the Parks and Recreation Commission is Parks and Recreation Director Mike Langford. The City Council liaison is Mayor Joe Burns.
