Consider Serving on a City of Sausalito Board or Commission

Post Date:05/24/2019 1:45 PM

The City of Sausalito's boards and commissions are an essential part of our local government. The local resident volunteers who serve as commissioners provide critical advice to the City Council and make important front-line decisions in Sausalito, including those related to historic preservation, disaster preparedness, and new home construction. There are currently openings on five of the City's boards and commissions. If you have ever considered contributing to the effective governance of Sausalito, this is a great time to get involved.

Commissioners are appointed by the City Council after an interview process to assess the qualifications of applicants. New commissioners typically serve a three-year term. Two terms may be served before a commissioner "terms out." Alternates may participate in the absence of regular members and fill vacancies when a regular member is termed out or resigns. Most of Sausalito's boards and commissions meet once per month in the evening.
