Broken Water Main Disrupts Bridgeway Traffic on June 15

Post Date:06/21/2019 2:45 PM

A break in a 12-inch, cast-iron water main belonging to the Marin Municipal Water District disrupted traffic and flooded businesses in the vicinity of 2658 Bridgeway on Saturday, June 15. The break took place at approximately 2:00 p.m. and caused the outside lane of northbound Bridgeway to buckle. Eight businesses on Bridgeway and Coloma Street were inundated with flooding and mud, with the water reaching the height of electrical outlets in some businesses.

The Marin Municipal Water District was able to shut off water to the pipe within twenty minutes of the reported breakage. Staff from the Southern Marin Fire Protection District, the Sausalito Police Department, the Public Works Department, and PG&E were also onsite to evaluate the area for safety and direct traffic. Water district crews began repairs to the roadway on Saturday evening, and the damaged portion of Bridgeway reopened at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
