Sausalito History Dioramas on Display in the Library

Post Date:06/28/2019 12:45 PM

Dioramas created by 3rd graders at Willow Creek Academy as part of the Sausalito Historical Society's schools program are now on display inside the Sausalito Library during open hours through Thursday, July 25.

This year, students worked in teams or individually to create a diorama depicting one of Sausalito's prominent people and their contribution to our community. The display of 13 dioramas is a sampling of the student projects and can be found in the magazine area of the library's "living room." Scenes presented include the Madden & Lewis Boatworks, a Miwok village, and Yee Tock Chee's grocery store on Bridgeway.

The mission of the Sausalito Historical Society's schools program is to teach students at Willow Creek Academy and Bayside Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy about the important people and places of Sausalito's history. Now in its tenth year, the program includes classroom presentations and field trips that bring our community's history to life for the students.
