Business Advisory Committee Update

The Business Advisory Committee is a standing subcommittee of the Sausalito City Council. Its nine members are tasked with evaluating the economy of the City of Sausalito, identifying actions to promote the economic health of the business community, and performing other duties as requested by the City Council.

Previous meeting. The Business Advisory Committee met on June 20. At the meeting, the committee members discussed follow-up on the presentation of the committee's three-part Economic Development Report to the General Plan Advisory Committee. The committee also discussed planning for a joint meeting with the Hospitality Business Development Committee in July, and the new business license ordinance and permit process for the City of Sausalito.

Upcoming meeting. The next meeting of the Business Advisory Committee will be held on Thursday, July 18 at 8:00 a.m. in the City Hall Conference Room. Topics on the agenda include the committee's participation in Chamber of Commerce discussions with business owners on Caledonia and Princess streets. The meeting will be followed by a 9:00 a.m. joint meeting with the Hospitality Business Development Committee. At the joint meeting, committee members will review the 36 recommendations that the two committees have made regarding businesses, hospitality, tourism, and economic development in Sausalito. The joint meeting will also include an overview of the City's newly expanded economic development program, options to address the recommendations of the two committees, and the selection of members from the two committees to form a subcommittee to work with City staff on an upcoming economic development request for proposals that will be reviewed by both committees and then forwarded to the City Council for action.
