PG&E Launches Forecast Page for Public Safety Power Shutoffs

Post Date:08/30/2019 2:45 PM

Under PG&E's Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program, Sausalito could be without power for as many as 48 hours under conditions of heightened fire risk. To help Californians gauge the likelihood of an impending power shutoff, PG&E has launched a new web page with a daily forecast for the next seven days within nine geographic zones.

Sausalito and Marin County are in geographic zone 3, which includes the following counties: Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, and Sonoma.

On the forecast page, PG&E notes that conditions affecting a possible PSPS event could change quickly. The forecast is based on weather conditions and fuel moisture content only and does not include other criteria used to determine whether a PSPS may be necessary.
