Planning Commission Update

The role of the Planning Commission is to review applications for design review and land use entitlements, as set forth in planning and zoning laws of the City and the state, and perform other such duties as specified in the Sausalito Municipal Code.

Previous meeting. A hearing of the Planning Commission was held on July 31. The following actions were taken at the hearing:
  • Denial of a tree removal permit for one tree located at 525-529 Easterby Street
  • Approval of a design review permit for a 1,517-square-foot addition to an existing non-conforming triplex and the conversion of a non-conforming triplex into a duplex at 28 Lower Crescent Avenue, a variance to allow the structure to exceed the maximum building height, a tree removal permit for the removal of a multi-trunk 14.7-inch DBH (diameter at breast height) coast live oak, and a lot-line adjustment for the merging of parcels 065-231-44 and 065-231-45

Upcoming meeting. There will be a regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4. The following items are on the agenda:
  • Consideration of an encroachment agreement and reasonable accommodation for accessibility improvements at 224 Bulkley Avenue
  • Consideration of a request for modification to a previously approved design review permit for 61 Wolfback Ridge Road
  • Consideration of a tree removal permit to remove a protected tree located adjacent to the parking deck at 134 Edwards Avenue
  • Consideration of a tree removal permit for the removal of three alder trees located in the rear parking lot of 107 Caledonia Street
  • Consideration of a tree removal permit for the removal of six coast live oak trees including two trees located in the rear yard of 596 Sausalito Boulevard, one tree located in the rear yard of 600 Sausalito Boulevard, and three trees located in the side yard of 608 Sausalito Boulevard
  • Discussion of the annual white paper with commission goals and objectives, as requested by Mayor Joe Burns
All Planning Commission meetings are open to the public and are also live streamed and video recorded. The department's public counter in City Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
