Parks and Recreation Commission Update

The seven-member Parks and Recreation Commission advises the City Council on the activities of the Parks and Recreation Department, on planning and policy matters related to City of Sausalito parks and recreation areas, and on the management of public art in Sausalito.

Previous meeting. At its meeting on July 17, the commission approved two high-impact special events and completed the white paper of goals and objectives that was requested by Mayor Joe Burns. The commission did not meet in August.

Upcoming meeting. The Parks and Recreation Commission will meet on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m. in Edgewater Room on the lower level of City Hall. Topics on the agenda include an update on park improvement projects, the consideration of a high-impact special event permit from the Ragnar Relay to pass through Sausalito and use MLK Park as a relay station, a review of findings from the recently completed survey on Jazz and Blues by the Bay, and discussion on establishing procedures for public art.

The staff liaison for the Parks and Recreation Commission is Parks and Recreation Director Mike Langford. The City Council liaison is Mayor Joe Burns.
