PG&E Restores Power to Sausalito Neighborhoods

Post Date:10/11/2019 4:15 PM

PG&E has restored power to all affected Sausalito neighborhoods after a Public Safety Power Shutoff that began in the early morning of Wednesday, October 9. Power began coming back on at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, and by 7:30 p.m. the PG&E outage map was showing that Sausalito was completely re-energized.

The City of Sausalito and the Marin County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services will be working with PG&E to understand how the company selected specific neighborhoods for shutoff and whether those neighborhoods are more likely to be subject to another shutoff if threatening conditions return. As more information becomes available, updates will appear in Sausalito Currents and the wildfire preparedness news page on the City website.

The City will be conducting a review of its response to the shutoff to identify areas of improvement in the event of another Public Safety Power Shutoff or a disaster that causes a widespread power outage. Areas for review include public safety, communications, traffic control, transportation, and charging stations and other public amenities. The City will also be working with the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce to understand the economic impact of the shutoff on local businesses.
