Planning Commission Update

The role of the Planning Commission is to review applications for design review and land use entitlements, as set forth in planning and zoning laws of the City and the state, and perform other such duties as specified in the Sausalito Municipal Code.

Previous meeting. A hearing of the Planning Commission was held on October 2. The following actions were taken at the hearing:
  • Recommended approval of an amendment to the Health and Safety Element of the 1995 Sausalito General Plan adopting the Marin County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan as part of the element
  • Recommended adoption of the existing "interim" Marijuana regulations for the City of Sausalito as the City's permanent regulations, with the understanding that future amendments may occur as warranted by additional analyses
  • Approved a design review permit subject to approval of encroachment agreement to construct 240 square feet of new floor area and roof eaves that encroach into the public right-of-way at 4 Cloud View Road
  • Approved a conditional use permit to establish an art gallery within an existing commercial space at 328A Pine Street

Upcoming meeting. There will be a regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16. The following items are on the agenda:
  • Request for an encroachment agreement at 676–686 Bridgeway Boulevard
  • Request for a design review permit and an encroachment permit at 556 Sausalito Boulevard
  • Request for a variance at 30 Atwood Avenue
  • Request for a design review permit at 253 Glen Drive
  • Request for a sign permit and revisions to an existing conditional use permit at 1201 Bridgeway (Sausalito Equator Coffee)
All Planning Commission meetings are open to the public and are also live streamed and video recorded. The department's public counter in City Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
