Update on the Dunphy Park Improvement Project

Post Date:11/08/2019 2:50 PM

The improvement project at Dunphy Park continues to move towards completion. Here is the latest update on the various park elements:
  • Approximately 50% of the new parking lot is now available for public use; permanent pavement stripes and signage have not yet been installed
  • The pathways from the parking lot to the bocce courts and the Sausalito Cruising Club are now open
  • The bocce courts should be ready for use by the end of November
  • The restroom is completed but in need of final utility hookups
  • The shoreline pathways are currently under construction
  • The irrigation system is currently under construction
  • The lawn area is still expected to reopen in winter or spring 2020, depending on how long it takes new grass to become established
Over the past week or so, an acrid smell has been emanating from Dunphy Park, particularly on warm days and when the wind is blowing from the east. The smell is from compost that is being added by the contractor to improve the soil quality at the park. The compost is non-toxic and will help to encourage the healthy growth of trees and plants.

Any questions about improvements at Dunphy Park may be directed to Public Works Division Manager Loren Umbertis at (415) 289-4113 or email at lumbertis@sausalito.gov.
