Business License Renewal Notices Are in the Mail

Post Date:11/08/2019 2:20 PM

The City's business license service provider, HdL, has mailed out renewal notices to all businesses in Sausalito that have a current business license. These renewals are for the calendar year that starts on January 1, 2020.

The notices will provide information on the Business License Tax Equity Ordinance approved by voters in November 2018 and will include the new tax rate category for each business. The new ordinance updated business license tax rates, reduced the number of business license categories from 22 to 4, and eliminated the exemption from the ordinance for subcontractors and commercial property owners.

To provide additional time for outreach and information, the City Council delayed the start date of the Business License Tax Equity Ordinance until July 1, 2019, for previously unlicensed businesses and new businesses, and January 1, 2020, for previously licensed businesses. A total of 190 previously unlicensed and new businesses in Sausalito have become licensed since the start of the new ordinance on July 1, 2019.

For more information on business licenses in Sausalito, visit the Business License area of the City website. Resources include the license application for new businesses and a list of frequently asked questions about the new ordinance and the license process.

If you feel that the new category for your business is incorrect, or you have any questions about the new ordinance, please contact the HdL Support Center at support@hdlgov.com or (415) 762-0576.
