Future of Business in Sausalito the Topic of February 27 Meeting

Post Date:02/07/2020 4:00 PM

The draft version of a comprehensive study of the business economy in Sausalito will be presented at a joint public meeting of the Business Advisory Committee and the Hospitality Business Development Committee on Thursday, February 27, 2020. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Sausalito residents, business owners and operators, and other interested parties are encouraged to attend. The meeting will also be live streamed and video recorded.

The Land Economics Study will provide an extensive review of the downtown retail area, the Caledonia Street retail area, and the Marinship. Included will be a look at how these areas will evolve over the next 20 years, what uses will be supported by market forces, and recommended strategies that the City can pursue to increase the success of existing and future businesses in Sausalito.

The study is being prepared by a three-member team from Kosmont Companies, a consulting firm that has worked with hundreds of cities and counties in California and throughout the Western United States. Kosmont was selected for the project in November 2019 after going through a competitive RFP (request for proposal) process.

A link to the full text of the draft version of the Land Economics Study will be posted to the City website and the Currents e-newsletter in advance of the February 27 meeting. Based on feedback received on the draft, Kosmont will prepare a final version to be presented to the City Council in March 2020. Any questions about the Land Economics Study may be directed to Yulia Carter, Assistant City Manager and Administrative Services Director, at ycarter@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4105.
