Project at Gate 6 Intersection Delayed to February 2021

Post Date:01/22/2021 4:30 PM

Construction on a project to improve safety for cyclists, cars, and pedestrians at the intersection of Gate 6 Road and Bridgeway is now expected to begin sometime in mid-to-late February. As of January 21, the contractor for the project had not yet received a necessary encroachment permit from Caltrans.

The improvements will add bicycle-detection sensors so that southbound cyclists approaching the intersection via the Sausalito-Mill Valley Multi-Use Path can be given a green light to safely cross over to the southbound lane of Bridgeway. The project also includes pavement rehabilitation and improvements to curb ramps and the waiting areas at crosswalks.

Construction at the Gate 6 intersection will impact vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian travel. The Department of Public Works encourages everyone to exercise caution when traveling through the construction area in the next few months. Any questions about the project may be directed to Public Works Grant Administrator Jill Barnes at jbarnes@sausalito.gov.
