Update on Improvements to the Gate 6 Intersection

Post Date:02/05/2021 7:00 PM

Construction on a project to improve safety for cyclists, cars, and pedestrians at the intersection of Gate 6 Road and Bridgeway continues to be delayed while the project's contractor awaits a permit and approval of construction materials from Caltrans. Work on the project is now anticipated to begin in early to mid-March, contingent on receipt of the permit and approvals.

The improvements will add bicycle-detection sensors so that southbound cyclists approaching the intersection via the Sausalito-Mill Valley Multi-Use Path can be given a green light to safely cross over to the southbound lane of Bridgeway. The project also includes pavement rehabilitation and improvements to curb ramps and the waiting areas at crosswalks. Any questions may be directed to Public Works Grant Administrator Jill Barnes at jbarnes@sausalito.gov.
