The City is committed to the health, safety, and welfare of its residents. Consistent with that commitment, the City's priority is to locate alternate and appropriate shelter for individuals at the tent encampment at Dunphy Park.
City staff and the City Council are working collaboratively with other governmental agencies, including the Marin County Department of Health and Human Services and the Marin County Veterans Service Office, and with local nonprofit organizations, including the Downtown Streets Team. These agencies are in conversation with the individuals at the encampment.
A court ruling has determined that municipalities have limits in terms of removing homeless encampments from public property.
The Sausalito Police are closely monitoring the encampment and the health and welfare of its inhabitants.
Any questions about the encampment or about Sausalito's homeless population can be directed to Lieutenant Stacie Gregory at sgregory@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4170.
