Sausalito is preparing for a hearing in U.S. District Court on February 23 to oppose an application that seeks to stop the City from relocating the occupants of the Dunphy Park encampment to Marinship Park, which offers 24/7 restrooms and trash service, as well as access twice a week to mobile showers and information about available social services.
On February 16, the Sausalito/Marin chapter of the California Homeless Union – on behalf of itself and 10 individuals – filed an emergency action for a temporary restraining order and permanent injunction to stop the relocation. The City opposed the request in court filings on February 17. Links to court filings may be found in the section below.
Tuesday's hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California before Judge Edward M. Chen.
Sausalito continues to seek assistance and guidance from local and regional government agencies and officials, as well as other partners, to identify appropriate and alternate housing for the Dunphy Park encampment occupants.
