Update on Soil Removal at Dunphy Park

Post Date:03/19/2021 6:00 PM

City staff are currently working on bid documents for the removal of the soil stockpile in Dunphy Park. The project is expected to be placed out to bid in the coming weeks.

The removal project will also include soil along the shoreline of Dunphy Park, which was recently fenced off for this purpose. Bits of glass and other debris are visible in the soil due to the site's former use as a burn dump.

The temporary fencing will also provide protection to the habitat around the estuary. Once the soil in that area is removed, new material will be placed that will allow for shoreline planting to increase the wetland habitat and assist in erosion prevention. More permanent fencing will then be installed for the ongoing protection of the habitat.

Any questions about soil removal at Dunphy Park may be directed to Loren Umbertis of the Department of Public Works at lumbertis@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4113.
