The City of Sausalito submitted its 2023-31 Housing Element to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) on February 28, 2023.
In accordance with the City's allocation by HCD and the Association of Bay Area Governments, the Housing Element identifies sites in Sausalito that could accommodate at least 724 new housing units by 2031. The City's appeal of its allocation was denied.
The 2023-31 Housing Element was adopted by the City Council at a special meeting on January 30, one day before the statutory deadline of January 31. City staff spent the month of February preparing the final version and associated appendices based on changes approved by the Council at the special meeting.
HCD now has 60 days to review Sausalito's adopted Housing Element and prepare a memo detailing any areas of noncompliance.
Questions about the 2023-31 Housing Element may be directed to Community and Economic Development Director Brandon Phipps at bphipps@sausalito.gov or (415) 289-4142.
