Sewer Rates, Sidewalk Repair Program on City Council Agenda

Post Date:04/12/2024 2:20 PM
Sewer rates over the next three-to-five years and a new program to help property owners pay for sidewalk repairs are among the topics on the agenda for the regular meeting of the City Council at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16.

The hybrid-format meeting will be conducted in the City Hall Council Chambers and via Zoom. It will also be broadcast live on the City website.

The following business items are on the meeting agenda:
  • Item 5A - Sewer Rates
Sausalito's current sewer rates were established in 2019 and are set to expire on June 30, 2024. For this item, the Council will consider a staff recommendation of 5% annual increases over three years or five years to help fund repairs to the City's aging and critical sewer infrastructure. Staff Report

  • Item 5B - Sidewalk Repair Program
Per section 5610 of California's Streets and Highways Code and chapter 17.36 of the Municipal Code, most repairs to damaged sidewalks fronting private property in Sausalito are the responsibility of the property owner. For this item, which was originally scheduled for April 2, the Council will consider a staff recommendation to develop a new annual incentive program that would provide property owners with a 50% reimbursement — up to $1,000 — for repairing or replacing their sidewalks. Staff Report
For additional items, staff reports, and other supporting documents, please refer to the meeting agenda. Information about participating in the meeting via Zoom and options for providing public comment can also be found on the agenda.
