The City of Sausalito will host a groundbreaking ceremony for a long-awaited improvement project at the
Sausalito Ferry Landing on
Monday, October 7 at 9:00 a.m.
The approximately 30-minute ceremony at nearby
Gabrielson Park will feature remarks from Sausalito Mayor Ian Sobieski and Denis Mulligan of the Golden Gate Ferry, Highway and Transportation District. Councilmembers and state, federal, and county officials will also be in attendance.
During the ceremony, the members of the local professionals group of architects and designers who volunteered hundreds of hours to develop and refine the project will be acknowledged for their extraordinary contributions.
At the conclusion of the $1.67 million, grant-funded construction project, the ferry landing will sport an expanded plaza, additional seating areas, a new promenade between Parking Lot 1 and Viña del Mar Park, and improved queuing zones for cyclists and pedestrians.
Construction began on September 23 and is expected to be completed in December 2024. Ferry service will remain uninterrupted while construction is underway.
