At its regular meeting in the Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 9, the
Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee (PBAC) will review options for possible
safety modifications to the section of Bridgeway between Princess and Richardson streets, receive public comment, and consider making a recommendation to the City Council.
The meeting will feature a presentation by
Parametrix, the transportation consulting firm that recently conducted a grant-funded study of current conditions and has developed alternatives for improving bicycle and pedestrian safety.
In the current configuration, bicycles and motorized vehicles share the northbound and southbound lanes, with a center lane in between that can be used by delivery and emergency vehicles.
The entire section of Bridgeway between Princess and Richardson streets is also devoid of crosswalks for pedestrians.
The PBAC consists of five members appointed by the City Council and two non-voting members. There are currently two open seats on the committee, meaning that all three voting members will need to be in agreement in order to make a recommendation to the City Council, which will consider the topic at a future meeting.
Please view the
meeting agenda for supporting documents and information about providing public comment in person or via Zoom. An
archived video recording will be available the day after the meeting.
