Speed limits along the Bridgeway corridor, the City's formula retail ordinance, the 2024-25 budget, and the appeal of an approved project to create a hotel and restaurant in the old Wells Fargo Building are among the items to be considered by the
City Council on Tuesday, February 18.
The open session of the meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers and via Zoom. The following business items and public hearing items appear on the
agenda:
- Item 4A - Appeal of Project at 715 Bridgeway
At its meeting on December 11, the Planning Commission unanimously approved a project to create a new restaurant and three-unit boutique hotel in the downtown building previously occupied by Wells Fargo Bank. For this item, the Council will hold a public hearing to consider the merits of an appeal filed by a neighbor.
- Item 5A - Mid-Year Budget
The Council will consider amendments to the City's 2024-25 budget to reflect a $1.5 million increase in revenues and a $500,000 increase in expenses. The current fiscal year ends on June 30, 2025.
- Item 5B - Bridgeway Speed Limits
The City is required by the state to conduct a traffic survey every five years if it wants to enforce speed limits by radar. For this item, the Council is being asked to approve an ordinance that would reduce speed limits on six segments of the Bridgeway corridor, as recommended by a traffic consultant.
- Item 5C - Formula Retail
The Council will consider a draft ordinance that would modify the City's regulations on formula retail establishments to address deficiencies in the existing ordinance. If approved as written, the new ordinance would allow administrative approval of formula retail establishments with five or fewer locations worldwide, among other changes.
