Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Completion of the Ferry Landside Improvement Project

Post Date:08/22/2025 1:00 PM

The City of Sausalito will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the long-awaited Ferry Landside Improvement Project on Friday, September 5 at 9:00 a.m.

The approximately 30-minute ceremony at Gabrielson Park will feature remarks from Sausalito Mayor Joan Cox, and local and state officials.

During the ceremony, Council Members, commissions, community organizations, local businesses, consultants, contractors, and City Staff will be acknowledged for their extraordinary contributions to the project.

At the revamped Ferry plaza, you'll now find new trees and landscaping, enhanced pedestrian and bicycle pathways, improved queuing zones for cyclists and pedestrians waiting for the ferry, and accessible parking spaces. The expanded Ferry Plaza also includes a new pedestrian promenade on Tracy Way, between Parking Lot 1 and Viña del Mar Park, outfitted with comfortable, eco-friendly furniture and potted plants for residents and visitors to enjoy by the waterfront.

The $2.5 million, grant-funded construction project was funded by the Federal Transit Administration, the Golden Gate Bridge Highway Transportation District, and the City of Sausalito. The process for the project began in 2017 and construction commenced in September, 2024.
