Your Guide to Voting in November

Post Date:10/24/2025

Residents of Sausalito, your vote matters! The special municipal election coming up on Tuesday, November 4, focuses on two important ballot measures: Measure J (Commercial District Local Control) and Measure K (MLK Local Control). These measures will shape how the City meets its housing responsibility under state law.

Key Dates & Voting Details:

  • Now through Tuesday, November 4: Ballot drop-box available at City Hall located at 420 Litho St. in Sausalito, open 24 hours a day.
  • Saturday, October 25, through Tuesday, November 4: Vote Center open at City Hall (Edgewater Room) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with extended hours on Election Day.
  • Tuesday, November 4 (Election Day): All vote centers open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Where to Vote:
  • Drop-box Location: City Hall parking lot off Bee St. (420 Litho St., Sausalito).
  • Vote Center: City Hall, Edgewater Room, 420 Litho St., Sausalito.

Why does this election matter? If voters approve both Measures J and K, the City will remain in compliance with the 2023-2031 Housing Element law, which requires Sausalito to plan for 724 new housing units (including affordable housing) by January 30, 2026. If they do not pass, the City faces significant risks, including loss of local zoning control and potential state enforcement.
