Due to the federal government shutdown, CalFresh benefits for the month of November was temporarily paused, resulting in delays and disruptions in benefit distribution. As of the morning of Friday, November 7, the State of California has confirmed that some CalFresh clients have received their November benefits, but it may take more time before everyone gets their full amount. This information is subject to change, stay up to date on the County's website. Participants can continue using any remaining EBT balance already available. Approximately 10,000 Marin households rely on CalFresh for basic nutrition.
During this time of uncertainty, many people are relying heavily on local food banks. The Sausalito Public Library is partnering with the San Francisco- Marin Food Bank to collect donations of nonperishable food. Look for the donation bin inside the library and drop off what you can during open hours — every contribution helps. If you'd like to volunteer with the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank or donate, visit their website. Donations are also encouraged through Marin Community Foundation’s Food on Every Table Fund.
