Please join Mayor Steven Woodside and the Sausalito City Council to celebrate the vision and gift of beloved Sausalito resident Dorothy Gibson to the City of Sausalito. This vision will be realized with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 12.
Dorothy Gibson’s generosity in bequeathing her home at 429 ½ Johnson Street to provide housing for city employees was augmented by the State of California through the efforts of Senator Mike McGuire and the County of Marin through the efforts of County Supervisor Stephanie Moulton Peters. The State of California generously provided $500,000 in funds as did Marin County to rehabilitate the historic home, which includes two separate living units to provide housing for unhoused people.
The City Council appointed Vice Mayor Melissa Blaustein and Councilmember Jill Hoffman as a working group to successfully shepherd this project in collaboration with the Dorothy Gibson Estate, Homeward Bound, Neighbors, City Contractors and City staff.
