Officers William Brice, Daniel Schuman, and Dustin Leandro were sworn in at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 17. Get to know your new officers:
- Officer William E. Brice was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and moved to San Mateo when he was 12 years old. In 2013, Brice joined the United States Army, serving honorably on active duty for over a decade, completing deployments in both the Middle East and Europe before joining the Army Reserve in 2024. After transitioning from active duty, Brice joined United Airlines, where he pursued his passion for aircraft while working around major jets. He then transitioned into a career as a police officer. In his free time, Officer Brice enjoys mountain biking, playing soccer, overlanding with his truck, and spending quality time with his wife and daughter.
- Officer Daniel Schuman joined the Sausalito Police Department in October 2025, after lateraling from the Department of Consumer Affairs, Division of Investigation. During his six years with the Division, he served as a state investigator conducting both criminal and administrative investigations for the Medical Board of California. Officer Schuman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology, law, and society from the University of California, Irvine. In 2018, he graduated from the Golden West College POST Police Academy and gained a range of local and state law enforcement experience. A native of Marin County, Officer Schuman spent his early childhood in Sausalito, where his family owned a condo at 100 South Street, and he was baptized at Christ Episcopal Church. Outside of work, Officer Schuman trains and competes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where he currently holds a blue belt. He also enjoys studying new languages and has spent the past five years learning Russian.
- Officer Dustin Leandro grew up in Santa Rosa and moved to San Diego in his early 20s, where he spent about five years. After living in San Diego, Officer Leandro moved back to Santa Rosa and worked at Bank of the West. After moving back, he met his wife and started a family. Before joining the Sausalito Police Department, Officer Leandro worked in fraud investigation for Redwood Credit Union, where his passion for investigation and law enforcement developed. Officer Leandro is grateful to have a career that will make his son proud when he is older and that helps the community.
