New Parking Pay Stations Coming to Sausalito This Spring

Post Date:03/06/2026
The City of Sausalito will soon begin installing new parking pay stations throughout downtown municipal public parking lots 1 through 4 and the Sausalito Yacht Harbor lot. This project is part of an ongoing effort to modernize the City’s parking system and improve the overall parking experience for residents and visitors.

Installation of the new pay stations is currently anticipated to begin in April 2026, although the timeline may adjust slightly as final preparations are completed. The new equipment replaces the City’s existing pay stations, which have reached the end of their service life.

The upgraded pay stations introduce updated technology intended to support improved transaction processing, system reliability, and user experience.

What to Expect:

  • New parking pay stations arriving in April 2026 (timeline subject to adjustment)
  • Most pay stations will accept credit or debit cards only
  • One coin-accepting pay station will remain available in each parking lot
  • Paper receipts will no longer be available
  • Optional text-message receipt requests will be available at the pay stations

While the new pay stations represent an important upgrade, parking rules, payment requirements, and programs will remain in place during the transition period.

The City will share additional information in the coming weeks about how specific parking programs — including resident and commuter/employee parking benefits — will work with the new system once installation is complete.

The City appreciates the community’s patience during this transition, and will continue providing updates through Currents and the City website as installation moves forward. Visit the City's website for updates and parking information.
