Be Prepared for Upcoming High Tides and Weather Changes

Post Date:07/09/2026

High Tides and Changing Weather. Sausalito residents and visitors should be aware of elevated high tides expected July 9โ€“16, ranging from approximately 6.4 to 7.2 feet. High tides may cause minor "nuisance" flooding in low-lying coastal areas during late-night and early-morning hours. At this time, high winds and rainfall are not expected to worsen flooding conditions. These tide predictions are well below the 8.4 to 8.6-foot king tides experienced in January 2026.

The National Weather Service is also monitoring the potential for dry lightning later this weekend into early next week. While forecast confidence remains low, now is a good time to stay informed, use caution near the shoreline, and be prepared for changing weather conditions.

Residents are encouraged to remain aware of changing weather conditions and take simple precautions during periods of high tide:

  • Avoid driving through flooded roadways or standing water.
  • Use caution near waterfront parking lots, trails, and shoreline access points that may temporarily flood.
  • Allow extra travel time if traveling during late-night or early-morning high tides.
  • Stay informed by monitoring forecasts and official weather updates.
