About the Fort Baker Boat Shop and Marina

  • Fort Baker is located on waterfront property between Sausalito and the Golden Gate Bridge
  • The boat shop and marina complex at Fort Baker consists of an 8,200-square foot main building, three smaller outbuildings, a deck, and a guest dock (see photo at bottom of this page)
  • The National Park Service is seeking a commercial partner for the boat shop and marina complex through a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) that it released on April 8, 2019
  • The partner that emerges at the end of a review process will be responsible for rehabilitating the existing facilities and operating a new waterfront community center
  • Suggested elements for the new community center include a restaurant and bar, an event venue, and a public marina for day use
  • The park service expects that the partner that is ultimately awarded with the project will begin rehabilitation of the complex in 2020 or 2021, with an expected 20-year lease for operations

Drop-in Open House on June 17, 2019

  • From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17, the National Park Service will hold a drop-in open house for members of the public to meet RFQ respondents to learn about their concepts for the Fort Baker Boat Shop and Marina
  • The open house will be held in the Edgewater Room on the lower level of Sausalito City Hall
  • The open house will not have formal presentation; instead, each RFQ respondent will have a table from which to distribute information handouts and engage members of the community who attend the session
