Dunphy Park Phase 1

The development of Dunphy Park began in the 1970s with initial planning efforts and public outreach guiding the park’s design spearheaded by the Friends of Dunphy Park group. In 2003, the City acquired parcels adjacent to Dunphy Park primarily through a grant from the State Coastal Conservancy. In 2015, Friends of Dunphy Park developed a master plan, with local professionals, to protect and enhance Dunphy Park for recreation purposes. The overall project construction was eventually divided into two phases due to environmental remediation and other sensitivities resulting in budget constraints. Dunphy Park Improvements Phase 1 was completed before 2021 and is a vibrant park today with members of the community as well as visitors utilizing the park.

Dunphy Park Phase 2

The southern side of the park known as Phase 2 aims to finalize the original vision through shoreline stabilization, site grading, accessible pedestrian paths, native and adaptive landscaping, irrigation, and installation of benches, and picnic tables. Improvements along the shoreline are planned to protect the shoreline and create wildlife and native plant habitat. Construction is ongoing through Spring 2026.
